A private travel bus overturned in the early hours of Monday, leaving nine passengers with minor injuries in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada district.
The accident occurred near Chebrolu on the National Highway in Gollaprolu mandal when the private bus, traveling from Srikakulam to Bhimavaram, lost control and toppled into an open area opposite the Chebrolu Sattamma Temple. At the time of the incident, the bus was carrying 24 passengers.
According to eyewitnesses, the loud noise of the bus overturning alerted passengers of a nearby APSRTC bus traveling ahead. They immediately stopped and rushed to the spot. With quick action, they broke open the shattered windows and helped rescue passengers trapped inside the overturned vehicle.
Highway mobile emergency staff reached the location promptly and shifted the injured passengers to a nearby hospital for treatment. Doctors confirmed that all nine injured passengers sustained only minor injuries and were out of danger. The remaining passengers were later sent to their destinations in another bus arranged by the authorities.
Police arrived at the scene soon after the incident, cleared traffic congestion on the highway, and registered a case. An investigation is currently underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
