A farm labourer from Punjab’s Faridkot district experienced a dramatic twist of fate after winning a lottery worth ₹1.5 crore. What should have been a moment of celebration quickly turned into panic, leading the entire family to disappear from their village due to fear of attacks or extortion.
A Life-Changing Win Turns Into Fear
The incident took place in Saideke village in Faridkot district. Ram Singh, a daily wage farm labourer, bought a lottery ticket worth ₹200 a few days ago. To his shock and joy, the ticket won the bumper prize of ₹1.5 crore. Ram Singh and his wife, Naseeb Kaur, believed their struggles had finally come to an end.
However, the news spread rapidly across the neighbouring villages. As more people learned about the massive prize money, Ram Singh began to fear for his family’s safety. He worried that someone might attack them or try to snatch their winnings.
Family Goes Missing Overnight
In a state of anxiety, the couple took a sudden decision. They locked their house, switched off their mobile phones and left the village with their entire family. Their sudden disappearance shocked neighbours, who informed the police.
Police Trace the Family and Offer Protection
Faridkot police soon located the couple and assured them of their safety. Officers promised full protection and urged them to return home without fear.
The police told them, “We are here for your security. Nothing will happen to you. We will ensure that you and your family stay safe.”
After receiving the assurance, Ram Singh and Naseeb Kaur returned to their home. Locals welcomed their return but also understood the fear that pushed them to flee.
Joy Mixed With Anxiety
Although winning the lottery changed their financial situation overnight, the unexpected attention also brought new worries. The couple hopes to use the money to improve their family’s future while staying cautious in the days ahead.
