One killed on the spot near Rampur’s Pahadi Gate junction
A fatal road accident occurred on Sunday evening at the Pahadi Gate junction under Ganj police station limits in Rampur district, Uttar Pradesh. A grass-laden lorry lost control and overturned, crushing a Bolero vehicle travelling beside it. One person died on the spot in the tragic incident.
Lorry hits divider before overturning
According to police, the lorry was heading towards Bilaspur on the Nainital National Highway. As it approached a curve near the local power house, the vehicle hit the road divider. Consequently, the heavily loaded lorry toppled onto a Bolero that was moving alongside it.
Bolero driver dies instantly
The Bolero driver, identified as Firasat (54), suffered severe injuries and died on the spot. Police confirmed that he was a resident of Gujartola village under the jurisdiction of Ganj police station. At the time of the accident, he was the only occupant in the vehicle.
Government vehicle angle under verification
Notably, the Bolero involved in the crash had “Uttar Pradesh Government” written on it. Preliminary information suggests that the vehicle belonged to the Electricity Department’s SDO. However, police officials stated that they are still verifying the ownership details.
Meanwhile, a two-wheeler rider travelling near the Bolero narrowly escaped the accident. Although he remained unharmed, his motorcycle sustained damage.
Emergency teams rush to the scene
After receiving information, Rampur SP Vidyasagar Mishra rushed to the spot along with police, fire personnel, and ambulance teams. Using a JCB crane, rescue teams recovered the body from the crushed Bolero. Authorities then shifted the body to the district hospital for postmortem.
CCTV footage goes viral
Meanwhile, authorities released CCTV footage of the accident. The video clearly shows the lorry hitting the divider and overturning onto the Bolero at the junction. The visuals, which have now gone viral on social media, have sparked widespread concern over road safety.
Police have launched a detailed investigation into the incident.
