Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has called for direct dialogue between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh to resolve long-standing water disputes, urging both states to move beyond political differences. He made these remarks while speaking at the inauguration of Suzen Medicare in Raviriyala, Rangareddy district.
Revanth Reddy said that water-related issues should be settled through mutual discussion rather than legal battles. He stressed that states must find solutions on their own instead of approaching courts. According to him, cooperation is the only way to protect public interests and ensure long-term development.
Recalling the formation of Telangana, the Chief Minister said Congress created the state to avoid disputes between the two regions. He emphasized that water is a basic necessity, not a political weapon. “If you ask whether Telangana wants disputes or solutions, the answer is clear. We want solutions,” he stated.
Addressing Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Revanth Reddy appealed for cooperation on projects related to the Krishna river. He urged AP not to create hurdles in securing approvals for joint-state projects. He warned that delays could affect central funding and place an additional financial burden on Telangana.
The Chief Minister clarified that his government is not seeking political mileage from water disputes. Instead, it aims to protect people’s interests. He said Telangana needs water, not unnecessary conflicts, and reiterated that dialogue remains the best path forward.
Revanth Reddy also highlighted the importance of inter-state cooperation for infrastructure and economic growth. He said port connectivity for Telangana depends on support from neighboring states. “If Andhra Pradesh takes one step forward, Telangana is ready to take ten steps,” he asserted.
Concluding his remarks, he said Telangana has emerged as an investment-friendly state. He added that many global company CEOs are from India, reflecting the country’s growing economic strength.
