Team India star batter Rohit Sharma once again grabbed headlines, not just for his sensational batting but also for a light-hearted moment with a fan during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match in Jaipur. Mumbai faced Sikkim on Wednesday and registered a dominant eight-wicket victory, thanks largely to Rohit’s blistering knock.
Batting for Mumbai, Rohit Sharma delivered a masterclass, smashing a stunning century in just 62 balls. He eventually scored a magnificent 155 runs off 94 deliveries, including 18 fours and nine towering sixes. His explosive innings powered Mumbai to an easy win and earned him the ‘Player of the Match’ award.
However, an amusing incident during the match caught everyone’s attention. As Rohit was fielding, a huge crowd gathered at the stadium to cheer their favourite star. Fans chanted slogans like “Mumbai Raja” while showering him with love. Amid the cheers, one fan playfully shouted, “Rohit bhai, vada pav khaoge kya?” (Rohit brother, will you eat vada pav?).
Rohit responded with a smile and a hand gesture, politely signalling that he would not. The crowd erupted in laughter and applause, turning the moment into a viral sensation on social media.
The incident also highlighted Rohit Sharma’s renewed focus on fitness. In recent months, he has reportedly lost nearly 10 kilograms and has been following strict dietary discipline. He has consciously stayed away from junk food, even refusing cake during teammate Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century celebration in a recent ODI match. Rohit jokingly said eating cake would make him gain weight again, drawing laughs from teammates.
Although vada pav is famously known as Rohit Sharma’s favourite snack, the Indian captain is currently avoiding it as part of his fitness regime. With the 2027 ODI World Cup in mind, Rohit appears determined to maintain peak physical condition while continuing to deliver match-winning performances on the field.
