Actress Rukmini Vasanth has strongly condemned the growing trend of inappropriate filming of female actors at public events. In a firm public statement, she stood with women across the film industry and called out deliberate zoom-ins and objectionable camera angles that shift focus from their work to their bodies. She made it clear that the industry will not accept such behaviour.
She pointed out that this problem keeps repeating during film promotions, award shows, and media events. Some photographers and videographers use angles that highlight body parts instead of the actor’s work. As a result, these clips spread quickly on social media and distract from the purpose of the event.
Rukmini stressed that women attend these gatherings for their craft and their cinema. They do not step onto public platforms to face objectification. She urged media professionals to act with responsibility, maintain basic respect, and follow ethical standards while covering events.
She also noted that although only a few individuals engage in such actions, their conduct harms every woman in the industry. Therefore, women in cinema have decided to set a clear boundary. They want dignity, not sensational coverage.
Moreover, she expressed strong support for every actress who has felt uncomfortable due to such filming practices. She assured that women in the industry will continue to stand together and demand fair treatment.
This united message sends a clear signal. The film industry values talent and hard work, and it expects respect in return.
