The SA20 League witnessed a breathtaking display of power-hitting as Sherfane Rutherford and Dewald Brevis smashed six sixes in six consecutive balls, leaving MI Cape Town bowlers stunned. The explosive batting helped Pretoria Capitals register a massive 85-run victory.
Pretoria Capitals were placed at 148/5 after 17 overs when the momentum suddenly shifted. In the 18th over, young sensation Dewald Brevis, popularly known as Baby AB, hammered two towering sixes off the final two deliveries bowled by Corbin Bosch.
The carnage continued in the next over. Sherfane Rutherford took charge against Dwayne Pretorius, smashing the first four balls for sixes. Together, Brevis and Rutherford completed a rare feat of six sixes in six balls, igniting celebrations in the stands and on social media.
Pretoria Capitals scored a stunning 72 runs in the final three overs. Rutherford played a blistering knock of 47 runs off just 15 balls, hitting six sixes. Brevis remained unbeaten on 36 off 13 balls, which included four sixes.
During the chase, MI Cape Town also showed flashes of resistance. Nicholas Pooran smashed 25 runs off just six balls, striking four sixes. Later, Keshav Maharaj briefly revived hopes by hitting four consecutive sixes in an over. However, his dismissal ended MI Cape Town’s chances, sealing a comprehensive win for Pretoria.
Meanwhile, another milestone was achieved in the SA20 League. Sunrisers Eastern Cape pacer Marco Jansen became the first bowler in SA20 history to claim 50 wickets. He took two wickets against Paarl Royals, pushing his tally to 51 wickets.
