Shubman Gill Struggles for Form in T20s
Team India T20 vice-captain Shubman Gill is going through a lean phase in white-ball cricket. In his last 15 T20 innings, he scored only 291 runs at a strike rate of 137.3. Moreover, he failed to register even a single half-century in his previous 21 white-ball innings.
Sanjay Bangar Points Out Key Weakness
Former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar shared his analysis on Gill’s form. He said Gill starts his innings well but loses momentum later. According to Bangar, Gill’s footwork against straight deliveries has become inconsistent.
Footwork Needs Immediate Improvement
Bangar explained that Gill plays well outside the off stump. However, he struggles against balls coming straight at him. As a result, his strike rate has dropped. Bangar added that improving footwork can help Gill score freely again.
Second T20 Dismissal Not a Concern
Referring to the second T20 against South Africa, Bangar defended Gill’s dismissal. He said the delivery was exceptional and could have dismissed any batter. However, he stressed that Gill showed intent by hitting a few boundaries.
Praise for Abhishek Sharma’s Aggression
Bangar also praised opener Abhishek Sharma for his attacking mindset. He highlighted Abhishek’s ability to play shots over the covers. Bangar called it a special skill that gives India early momentum.
Hardik Pandya Adds Balance to the Team
Speaking about Hardik Pandya, Bangar said his all-round ability provides balance to the Indian side. He added that Pandya’s role remains crucial in the current team setup.
Series Decider in Ahmedabad
India and South Africa will face each other in the fifth and final T20 in Ahmedabad. The fourth match in Lucknow was abandoned due to fog without a single ball bowled. India currently lead the series 2-1. While India aim to seal the series, South Africa look to level it with a win.
