A sensational verdict in Guntur has brought a major twist to a case involving a serving police officer, as former Nagarampalem SI K. Raviteja received a ten-year prison sentence for cheating a young woman in the name of love. The court found that Raviteja misused his position and trust, leading to a strong message against abuse of authority. The judgment has drawn wide attention due to the seriousness of the charges and the officer’s role in law enforcement.
K. Raviteja, who currently served as SI at Amruthalur in Bapatla district, earlier worked at Nagarampalem police station in Guntur. During that period, he allegedly developed a relationship with a woman employed as a nurse. Later, the woman accused him of cheating and exploitation under the pretext of marriage. In 2023, she lodged a formal complaint at the Nagarampalem police station.
Following the complaint, police registered cases under SC/ST Atrocities Act provisions along with rape charges. Soon after, Raviteja stopped reporting for duty. As a result, senior officials placed him under suspension. Meanwhile, the case proceeded in the Guntur court with detailed hearings and witness examinations.
After prolonged arguments, the Fourth Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Sharath Kumar concluded that the charges stood proven. Based on the findings, the court awarded SI Raviteja a ten-year jail term, making the verdict a strong and noteworthy outcome in the case.
