Srisailam witnessed a massive spiritual gathering as thousands of devotees arrived to celebrate Maha Shivaratri, transforming the ancient temple town into a vibrant centre of devotion. From early hours, chants of “Om Namah Shivaya” echoed through the hills, creating an atmosphere that reminded many of Mount Kailasa, the divine abode of Lord Shiva.
Temple Town Filled with Devotion and Festive Spirit
As the celebrations gained momentum, the entire Srisailam Mahakshetram resonated with spiritual energy. Devotees from different parts of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and other states gathered in large numbers. Brungi Vahana Seva Marks a Sacred Evening
On Monday evening, the temple authorities conducted the Brungi Vahana Seva to honor Lord Mallikarjuna and Goddess Bhramaramba. This sacred procession attracted a huge turnout, as devotees watched with reverence. Following this, the Hamsa Vahana Seva, scheduled for the evening, will mark the beginning of the traditional Grammotsavam, adding further grandeur to the celebrations.
Special Pujas and Rituals for the Divine Couple
As part of the Maha Shivaratri Brahmotsavams, priests performed special pujas and vahana sevas for the presiding deities. Devotees actively took part in the rituals, offering prayers and seeking blessings. At the same time, temple officials ensured smooth arrangements to manage the large crowds.
Sacred Offerings from Dwarka Tirumala and Indrakeeladri
Adding to the spiritual significance, temple authorities from Dwarka Tirumala (Chinna Venkanna) in West Godavari district personally presented silk garments to the deities. Similarly, devotees representing Indrakeeladri Durga Temple also offered ceremonial clothes to Lord Mallikarjuna, symbolising unity among major pilgrimage centres.

In addition to religious rituals, the Brahmotsavams featured bhajans, kolatams, and cultural performances that enriched the spiritual atmosphere. Traditional dances and devotional songs captivated pilgrims, making the celebrations more engaging and memorable.

Meanwhile, Dornala, a major route to Srisailam, witnessed heavy pilgrim movement. The town glowed under decorative lighting, especially near the Srisailam entrance gates. With continuous chants from Shiva devotees, Dornala turned into a lively spiritual hub, reflecting the grandeur of Maha Shivaratri.
