Pawan Kalyan Calls for Strong Action to Prevent Wildlife Accidents
Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has ordered strict measures to prevent wildlife accidents on forest routes. Recently, the deaths of a tigress and a leopard in separate incidents raised serious concern within the government.
Two Incidents Spark Concern
In Prakasam district’s Markapuram Forest Division, a speeding vehicle hit and killed a tigress. Meanwhile, a train struck and killed a leopard in the Adoni range. Because of these tragic incidents, Pawan Kalyan described the losses as deeply distressing.
Following the incidents, he ordered an immediate inquiry. At the same time, he directed senior forest officials to submit a detailed report without delay.
Review Meeting With Forest Department
On Tuesday, Pawan Kalyan conducted a review meeting with forest department officials. During the meeting, he stressed that wildlife conservation requires collective responsibility. Therefore, he urged motorists traveling along forest routes to strictly follow traffic rules.
He noted that losing two wild animals on the same day was painful. Moreover, he emphasized the need for stronger safety measures near wildlife corridors, highways, and railway tracks.
Inter-Departmental Coordination Needed
To prevent similar incidents, Pawan Kalyan called for close coordination among the Highway Authority, Railways, Police Department, and district administration. Through joint efforts, authorities can significantly reduce wildlife-related accidents.
Additionally, he instructed officials to identify accident-prone zones and declare them wildlife hotspots.
Speed Control and Infrastructure Measures
In hotspot areas, officials must install warning boards, reflectors, rumble strips, barricades, and solar blinkers. Furthermore, authorities should enforce strict speed limits on roads near forest areas, especially at night.
To ensure compliance, he suggested using speed guns and AI-based CCTV cameras. As a result, officials can penalize vehicles that exceed speed limits more effectively.
Awareness and Increased Patrolling
Apart from enforcement, Pawan Kalyan stressed the importance of awareness. Hence, officials should educate motorists and local communities about wildlife movement and safety.
In addition, he directed forest staff to increase night patrolling along forest routes. Ultimately, he said protecting wildlife is vital for ecological balance and called for sustained efforts to prevent such tragic incidents in the future.
