The statue of legendary Telugu actor Superstar Krishna was unveiled on Sunday at the prominent Lenin Center in Vijayawada. The event witnessed the presence of leading film personalities, political leaders, and fans who gathered to pay tribute to the iconic actor.
Grand Ceremony in the City Center
Krishna’s brother and senior producer Ghattamaneni Adiseshagiri Rao, along with his grandson Ghattamaneni Jaya Krishna, unveiled the statue. Later, dignitaries offered floral tributes. The statue depicts Krishna in the powerful Rama Raju role from the classic film Eenadu, symbolising courage and social responsibility.
Leaders Recall Krishna’s Influence
Meanwhile, AP Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Raghurama Krishnam Raju, Minister Kollu Ravindra, Vijayawada MP Keshineni Sivanath (Chinni), and MLAs Bonda Uma and Gadde Rammohan attended the ceremony. Producers Ashwini Dutt and Gemini Kiran also participated.
Speaking on the occasion, Raghurama Krishnam Raju described Superstar Krishna as a symbol of goodness. He added that Krishna remains a superstar even today. Moreover, he said it was fitting to install the statue in Vijayawada, a city closely linked to Krishna’s life and career.

In addition, Raghurama Krishnam Raju spoke about Jaya Krishna’s film debut. He urged fans to shower him with the same affection they gave to Krishna and Mahesh Babu. He also expressed confidence in Jaya Krishna’s future in cinema.

Minister Kollu Ravindra praised Krishna as a pride of the Telugu nation. Furthermore, he highlighted Krishna’s role in introducing Eastman Color, CinemaScope, and 70mm films to Telugu cinema. He also credited Krishna for popularising James Bond-style films, cowboy stories, and historical dramas.
Similarly, MP Keshineni Sivanath said the unveiling of the statue was a proud moment for Telugu people. He noted that Krishna left a lasting impression on society through his films and values.
Warm Wishes for Jaya Krishna
Meanwhile, Jaya Krishna, son of late actor Ramesh Babu, is set to make his debut with Srinivasa Mangapuram. Ajay Bhupathi, known for RX 100 and Mangalavaram, is directing the film. Producers Ashwini Dutt and Gemini Kiran are jointly backing the project.
