Sydney: Police in Australia have confirmed that the shooting at a Hanukkah celebration in Sydney was a terror attack. A 50-year-old father and his 24-year-old son carried out the attack, officials said on Monday.
The incident occurred near Bondi Beach during a Jewish festival, causing panic among those present. New South Wales Police stated clearly that no other suspects were involved.

NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said officers reached the spot quickly and confronted the attackers. During the encounter, police shot and killed the father at the scene. His son suffered serious injuries and remains in hospital under police watch.
As part of the probe, police searched two houses in Bonnyrigg and Campsie, both located in Sydney’s suburbs. Authorities confirmed that the deceased man legally owned six firearms. Investigators believe he used these licensed weapons during the attack.
Police also found two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) near the site. Bomb disposal teams safely defused both devices, preventing further harm.
Commissioner Lanyon said police are still examining the motive behind the attack. He avoided commenting on reports about an ISIS flag found at the scene. Meanwhile, two police officers injured during the operation continue to receive treatment in hospital.
Following the attack, NSW Police announced tight security at all religious places across the state. Officials urged the public to stay alert while the investigation continues.
