The Tandava Reservoir in the Narsipatnam constituency of Anakapalli district supplies irrigation water to nearly 52,000 acres. After the coalition government assumed office, repair works gained speed under the supervision of project chairman Karaka Satyanarayana. Officials are restoring damaged gates and stopping leakages with an allocation of ₹11 lakh.
Farmers in the region depend heavily on this reservoir for cultivation. Therefore, authorities have taken up urgent repairs to ensure smooth water flow during the irrigation season.
Gate Repairs and Leak Prevention
Project teams are repairing worn-out gates and sealing leakage points to prevent water loss. These works aim to improve storage efficiency and secure a steady supply to tail-end farmers.
According to officials, the repairs will strengthen the structure and reduce the risk of technical faults. As a result, farmers can expect better water management in the coming months.
₹4 Crore for Canal Modernisation
In addition to gate repairs, Assembly Speaker Chintakayala Ayyannapatrudu facilitated ₹4 crore for modernising the Tandava canals. The funds will support desilting, lining, and structural upgrades to improve water distribution.
So far, authorities have completed 32 works under the modernisation plan. Officials stated that they will finish the remaining works soon to enhance irrigation capacity across the command area.
Focus on Strengthening the Irrigation Network
The Tandava project plays a vital role in supporting agriculture in the Narsipatnam region. With timely repairs and upgraded canals, the government aims to ensure efficient water delivery to farmers.
Officials expressed confidence that the ongoing works will boost farm productivity and reduce water wastage. Further updates on the reservoir repairs are expected once the remaining works reach completion.
