IMD warns of sharp drop in temperatures
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a cold wave will intensify across Telangana over the next two days. According to the forecast, cold conditions will peak on Monday and Tuesday, prompting officials to issue yellow and orange alerts for several districts.
Dry weather likely across the state
Meanwhile, the IMD has predicted dry weather conditions across Telangana during this period. However, despite the absence of rainfall, temperatures are expected to fall sharply. In fact, minimum temperatures may drop 2°C to 3°C below normal in several locations. Already, night temperatures have dipped to single digits in many districts.
Orange alert for northern districts
Notably, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for Adilabad, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, Nirmal, Kamareddy, Medak, and Sangareddy districts. These areas are likely to experience severe cold conditions, especially during late night and early morning hours.
Yellow alert for Hyderabad and surrounding areas
At the same time, the IMD has placed Hyderabad, Vikarabad, Jagtial, Nizamabad, Warangal, Hanumakonda, Jangaon, Siddipet, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, and Rangareddy districts under a yellow alert, indicating moderate cold conditions.
Minimum temperatures recorded on Sunday
