Telangana District Reorganisation Back on the Table
Telangana Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy announced that the state government will reconsider the current district structure. He said the previous government divided districts in an unscientific manner, which caused major problems for the public and officials.
‘Political Decisions Hurt Administration’
Speaking during Question Hour in the Assembly, Ponguleti criticised the earlier rulers for ignoring public needs and geography. He said they created districts and mandals for political reasons. According to him, they did not follow any clear planning method.
The minister stated that some mandals within the same Assembly constituency now fall under different districts. Because of this, people travel long distances for basic government work. He said this situation has weakened administration and increased public hardship.
Congress Government Plans Scientific Reorganisation
Ponguleti said the Congress government led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy wants to fix these issues. The government plans to reorganise districts and mandals in a scientific way. The aim is to make administration easy and people-friendly.
He added that officials have already started preparing special reports. These reports focus on public problems and district-level gaps. The government will take decisions only after reviewing these findings.
No Unilateral Decisions, MLAs to Be Consulted
The minister assured the Assembly that the government will not take sudden decisions. The Cabinet will discuss the reports in detail. After that, the government will seek opinions from all MLAs.
Ponguleti said decentralisation is not about numbers. It is about bringing government offices closer to people. He stressed that the new plan will focus on better services and public convenience.
The announcement signals major changes ahead in Telangana’s administrative setup.
