Security forces intensified combing operations in the forest regions of Telangana, and fresh reports now suggest a major setback for Maoist cadres. Senior Maoist leaders Devji and Malla Rajireddy have reportedly surrendered before the Telangana State Intelligence Bureau. Although officials have not yet issued a formal confirmation, an announcement is expected within the next two days.
Sources indicate that the surrender took place in the forest areas of Asifabad, where security forces have been conducting coordinated search operations. Following the death of Nambala Kesava Rao, Devji had reportedly taken charge of party leadership activities. Meanwhile, Malla Rajireddy served as a Politburo member within the Maoist structure.
Background of the Leaders
Devji, also known as Tippiri Tirupati, hails from Peddapalli district. Over the years, he played a key role in Maoist operations across forest belts in the region. Malla Rajireddy, on the other hand, held an influential position in strategic planning as a senior Politburo member.
In addition to these two leaders, reports suggest that nearly 25 other Maoist members are preparing to surrender. If confirmed, this development could significantly weaken the organisational structure of the banned outfit in Telangana and neighbouring states.

The reported surrenders come at a time when the Central government has intensified anti-Maoist measures under Operation Kagar, setting March 31 as a crucial deadline for achieving breakthroughs.
