Hyderabad: The Telangana municipal elections entered a crucial stage as officials began counting votes across the state. Authorities completed all preparations at 136 counting centres to ensure a smooth process.
Counting covers 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations and starts at 8 a.m. today. Officials will first count postal ballots, then move on to regular ballots. Around 20,000 personnel are deployed to maintain security and oversee the process. CCTV cameras monitor every step to ensure transparency.
Election officers expect the first trends about two hours after counting starts. Clear results should emerge by evening.
Following the results, elections for municipal chairpersons and vice-chairpersons will take place on the 16th of this month. The same day, seven municipal corporations will elect mayors and deputy mayors, completing the local governance process.
Officials stressed that all arrangements are in place to ensure transparency, maintain order, and uphold electoral integrity.
