Telangana is set to hold municipal elections on February 11, 2026. Early results are already giving a clear picture of the trends in various municipalities. So far, 14 wards across 9 municipalities have been declared uncontested. Among these, Congress candidates won 12 wards, while BRS candidates secured 2 wards.
Suryapet Leads with Most Uncontested Wards
Suryapet district recorded the highest number of uncontested wards, with four wards going to Congress without opposition. Huzur Nagar had one uncontested ward, while Kodad had three wards, and Vikarabad municipality saw two uncontested wards.
Other Key Districts and Corporations
In the Mahabubnagar and Ramagundam corporations, one division each went uncontested. Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district recorded two uncontested wards. The early dominance of Congress in 12 out of 14 uncontested wards indicates a strong foothold in the upcoming elections.
Congress Targets 100 Wins
Congress has set a target of winning 100 seats in the Telangana municipal elections. The party appears confident of maintaining its lead, and early uncontested victories are giving hints of a possible widespread success across municipalities.
