The municipal election campaign in Telangana has reached its climax, with public rallies set to conclude this evening. Candidates and political parties are making last-minute efforts to win voter support. Polling is scheduled for February 11, and as per regulations, all loudspeakers and microphones must be switched off 48 hours before voting. With 116 municipalities and seven municipal corporations in the fray, urban areas are buzzing with political activity.

This election has seen limited activity from star campaigners. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy focused on a few select districts, while Deputy CM Bhatti Vikramarka prioritised his own constituency in Madhira. Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao and Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy conducted roadshows and rallies in their assigned districts. Local leaders carried much of the campaign on their shoulders, visiting neighbourhoods and engaging directly with voters.

Over the past week, campaign vehicles have roamed municipal wards nonstop. Parties promised development projects and benefits, with Congress, BRS, BJP, CPI, and CPM leaders actively touring the state. Daytime rallies drew public attention, while nighttime strategy meetings focused on social dynamics and voter influence.

As official campaigning winds down, candidates are shifting attention to unofficial outreach. Meetings with key community members and efforts to consolidate support among social groups have intensified. Reports indicate some attempts to influence voters through inducements, with secret meetings continuing late into the night. In major municipalities, candidates are reportedly preparing to distribute 3,000 to 5,000 rupees per vote, while smaller towns may see rates from 1,000 to 3,000 votes.

Polling will take place on February 11, from morning until evening. The government is considering declaring local holidays to enable voters to exercise their franchise. Vote counting is scheduled for February 13, and political excitement runs high as parties and candidates await results to see who will claim control of the municipal councils.
