Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay has officially announced his exit from films. He said he will now focus entirely on politics. Vijay made the announcement at the audio launch of Jana Nayagan in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Nearly 90,000 fans attended the event.
Speaking on stage, Vijay said he took the decision for public service. He thanked his fans for supporting him throughout his 30-year film journey. He added that he wants to serve the people with the same dedication.
“I will stand for the fans who stood by me in theatres for decades,” Vijay said. He described the decision as emotional but necessary. Vijay also said his fans turned his small dreams into a grand reality.
‘Jana Nayagan’ Will Be Vijay’s Final Film
Vijay confirmed that ‘Jana Nayagan’ is his 69th and last movie. Director Vinod helms the film. Anirudh Ravichander has composed the music. The makers have scheduled the film for release on January 9, 2026.
Focus Shifts to TVK and 2026 Elections
Earlier this year, Vijay launched his political party Tamilaga Vetri Kalagam (TVK). Since then, he has stepped up political activities across Tamil Nadu. With his film career ending, Vijay will now work as a full-time political leader.
The announcement has created strong buzz. It marks a major turning point in Tamil cinema and state politics.
