Prime Minister highlights national pride in 129th episode
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday praised Operation Sindoor during the 129th episode of Mann Ki Baat, stating that “today’s India does not compromise on its security.” Addressing the nation through his monthly radio programme, the Prime Minister said the operation reflected India’s firm stand against terrorism.
He added that scenes of love, unity, and devotion towards the nation emerged from across the country during the operation.
Operation Sindoor symbol of India’s resolve
Recalling the nation’s achievements, PM Modi said 2025 gave several moments of pride to every Indian. He noted that India made its mark in areas ranging from national security and sports to science and global platforms.
“Operation Sindoor became a symbol of pride for every Indian. The world clearly saw that today’s India will not compromise on its security,” the Prime Minister said. He added that people across the country expressed their patriotism in different ways during the operation.
Background of Operation Sindoor
India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed the lives of 26 people. According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Indian forces destroyed nine major terror launchpads in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The strikes targeted terror outfits such as Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen, resulting in the elimination of over 100 terrorists, officials said.
Four-day conflict and ceasefire agreement
Following the operation, Pakistan retaliated, leading to a four-day military conflict from May 7 to May 10. After sustaining heavy losses, Pakistan’s DGMO contacted the Indian DGMO. Both sides then agreed to cease all firing and military action on land, air, and sea from May 10.
Vande Mataram spirit recalled
PM Modi also spoke about the 150th anniversary of the national song “Vande Mataram.” He said the same patriotic spirit was visible during the celebrations and thanked citizens for their enthusiastic participation using #VandeMataram150.
Earlier, the Prime Minister inaugurated the year-long celebrations in New Delhi and released a commemorative stamp, coin, and dedicated portal for the occasion.
