Teaser Creates Buzz and Backlash
Kannada superstar Yash’s upcoming film Toxic has triggered a major controversy soon after its teaser release. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film marks Yash’s return to cinemas after nearly four years. While fans celebrated the teaser’s intense tone, several viewers objected to a few bold visuals shown in it.
Objections Over Bold Scenes
The Toxic teaser went viral across YouTube and social media platforms within hours. Yash appears in a dark and powerful avatar named “Raya,” delivering high-voltage action scenes. However, some intimate visuals, especially scenes shot inside a car, drew sharp criticism. Many viewers felt the content crossed limits and could influence young audiences negatively.
AAP Complaint Triggers Official Response
Taking the issue seriously, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders filed a complaint with the Karnataka State Women’s Commission. AAP state secretary Usha Mohan stated that the teaser scenes could affect children and youth. She urged authorities to remove the teaser from social media immediately.
Women’s Commission Writes to CBFC
Following the complaint, the Women’s Commission acted promptly and wrote to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The commission asked the censor board to review the teaser and take necessary action. It also sought a detailed report, pointing out that the film, promoted with the subtitle “A Fairytale for Grownups,” appears to focus heavily on adult content.
Mixed Reactions Online
Meanwhile, public opinion remains divided. Many fans praised Yash’s screen presence and stylish action. At the same time, others questioned the need for such bold scenes. Some social media users also criticised the creative choices despite the film having a woman director.
Director Responds to Criticism
Responding to the controversy, director Geetu Mohandas said she expected such reactions. She clarified that every scene supports the story and added that online criticism would not influence her vision.
As the debate continues, all eyes are now on the CBFC’s response and whether the makers will modify the teaser or stand by their creative choices.
