The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has introduced crucial TTD ghee procurement reforms for the famous Sri Venkateswara Laddoo Prasadam. These steps aim to improve Tirumala laddoo quality, ensure transparency in the TTD ghee tender process, and provide devotees with the purest offering.
Focus on Quality and Devotee Trust
TTD Chairman B.R. Naidu said the main goal is to maintain devotees’ trust. Earlier criticism over ghee purity in 2024 prompted these reforms. Consequently, the board decided to enforce stricter measures for Tirumala Prasadam reforms.
Shorter Collection Distance
To keep the ghee fresh and prevent contamination during transport, TTD reduced the ghee collection radius from 1,500 km to 800 km. This ensures that only pure ghee for laddoo reaches the temple kitchens.
Strong Monitoring Rules
TTD now mandates GPS lock systems on all ghee tankers. This real-time tracking ensures that no tampering or delays occur during transport, making the TTD ghee procurement process more secure.
Strict Quality Checks
The board has implemented strict quality tests to guarantee Tirumala laddoo quality, including:
Milk Fat Purity Tests (ISO 17678:2019)
Sensory Checks (IS Code: 7770:1975)
MRL Scoreboard System
These measures ensure that only the cleanest Sri Venkateswara laddoo ghee is used in temple kitchens.
Transparent Tendering Process
To prevent monopoly in the TTD ghee tender process, the purchase of 65 lakh kilograms of ghee was divided into seven separate tender batches. This step increases fairness and transparency.
Leading Suppliers
As a result of the tender process, Nandini (KMF) secured four tenders, while Mother Dairy and Indapur Dairy received one each. Sangam Dairy won one tender as well, ensuring multiple trusted suppliers provide pure ghee for laddoo.
Devotee-First Approach
Chairman Naidu emphasised that these Tirumala prasadam reforms focus on delivering the highest-quality Sri Venkateswara Laddoo to devotees. He added that TTD remains committed to maintaining the sanctity and trust of the offering.
With these reforms, TTD strengthens its pledge to pilgrims, ensuring that Tirumala laddoo quality meets the highest standards for millions of devotees visiting Tirumala each year.
