India face an uphill task in the Under-19 Asia Cup final as Pakistan posted a massive total of 347 runs after opting to bat first at the Dubai International Stadium.
Winning the toss, the Indian Under-19 team chose to bowl first. However, the decision backfired as Pakistan’s batters dominated the proceedings. The Pakistani side piled up 347 for 8 in the allotted 50 overs, putting India under immense pressure in the title clash.
Sameer Minhas’ Record-Breaking Knock
Pakistan opener Sameer Minhas stole the show with a sensational innings. He smashed a brilliant 172 runs off just 113 balls, registering one of the finest knocks in Under-19 Asia Cup history. His explosive innings included 17 boundaries and 9 sixes, completely dismantling the Indian bowling attack.
In addition, Usman Khan contributed 35 runs, while Ahmad Hussain scored a valuable 56, providing solid support to the massive total.
Among Indian bowlers, Deepesh Devendran picked up three wickets, while Henil Patel and Khilan Patel claimed two wickets each. Kanishk Chauhan chipped in with one wicket.
India Lose Early Wickets in Run Chase
Chasing a daunting target of 348 runs, India got off to a shaky start. The team lost four wickets for just 59 runs within the first seven overs, slipping into serious trouble early in the chase.
Captain Ayush Mhatre was dismissed for 3, while Aaron George scored 16 and Vihaan Malhotra managed only 7 runs before returning to the pavilion.
Young batter Vaibhav Suryavanshi provided a brief spark with a quickfire 26 off 10 balls, hitting one four and three sixes. However, his aggressive cameo ended when he fell to Ali Raza’s bowling.
India Face Steep Climb Ahead
At present, India stand at 59 for 4 in 7 overs. The team still need 289 runs from 43 overs, with only six wickets in hand. With the required run rate climbing and wickets falling, Pakistan hold a strong advantage in the final.
