Relief for Passengers From High Airport Food Costs
In a major relief for air travelers, the Airport Authority of India (AAI) has launched the ‘Udan Yatri Cafe’ at the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Shamshabad, Hyderabad. The low-cost cafe began operations on Saturday, aiming to reduce the financial burden on ordinary passengers who often complain about expensive food at airports.
Tea for Rs. 10, Coffee for Rs. 20
The newly opened cafe offers tea for just Rs. 10 and coffee for Rs. 20, making it affordable for all sections of passengers. In addition, breakfast items and snacks are also available at very nominal prices. Travelers can now enjoy basic refreshments without worrying about inflated airport rates.
Located at International Departures Check-in Hall
The Udan Yatri Cafe has been set up at the International Departures Check-in Hall, Gate No. 1 of RGIA. Due to its convenient location, passengers can easily access the cafe before completing check-in and security procedures. Many travelers welcomed the move, calling it a much-needed facility.
Promise Made in Parliament Comes True
For a long time, passengers have raised concerns about skyrocketing food and beverage prices at airports. The issue was even discussed in Parliament, following which Union Civil Aviation Minister Rammohan Naidu assured the launch of affordable cafes at airports. As part of this initiative, the first Udan Yatri Cafe was opened in Kolkata in January last year, and Hyderabad now becomes the second airport to offer this service.
Officials Highlight Improved Passenger Services
Airport officials described the launch as a significant step towards improving passenger experience. “The Udan Yatri Cafe is a major step in enhancing the quality of passenger services,” officials said in a social media post. Passengers have also shared positive feedback, praising the initiative for making air travel more inclusive.
With the introduction of the Udan Yatri Cafe, Hyderabad Airport has set a positive example, offering comfort and affordability to common travelers while addressing a long-standing concern.
