Cricket history is full of glorious milestones like centuries, five-wicket hauls, and match-winning performances. However, the game also carries a darker side—unwanted records that players would rather forget. Surprisingly, even legendary cricketers have found their names etched into record books for all the wrong reasons.

While fans often celebrate achievements, some records haunt players for a lifetime. From repeated duck-outs to costly bowling spells, these moments remind us that even the greatest can fail. Here are some of the most unwanted records in international cricket history.

1. Most Ducks in International Cricket

Sri Lankan legend Muttiah Muralitharan, the highest wicket-taker in international cricket, also holds an unfortunate batting record. He has registered 59 ducks across formats, the most in cricket history. Meanwhile, former West Indies pacer Courtney Walsh follows with 54 ducks.

2. Most Times Bowled in Test Cricket

Indian batting great Rahul Dravid, famously known as The Wall, tops another unwanted list. He was clean bowled 55 times in Test cricket. Interestingly, Sachin Tendulkar stands second with 54 dismissals.

3. Nervous Nineties Record

Getting out in the 90s is every batter’s nightmare. Unfortunately, Sachin Tendulkar experienced it the most. He was dismissed between 90 and 99 runs on 28 occasions in international cricket, the highest for any player.

4. Most Runs Conceded in a Test Over

England pacer Stuart Broad conceded 35 runs in a single Test over, bowled to Jasprit Bumrah, including no-balls and wides. As a result, Broad holds the record for the most expensive over in Test cricket.

5. Longest Over in International Cricket

Pakistan bowler Mohammad Sami delivered a 17-ball over against Bangladesh in the 2004 Asia Cup. The over included 7 wides and 4 no-balls, making it the longest in international cricket.

Final Word

Records—good or bad—are part of the game. Although these unwanted milestones may appear embarrassing, they do not diminish the greatness of these cricketing legends.
