Konaseema district, Ainavilli Mandal – Villagers in Veeravellipalem staged a protest at an ONGC site demanding an immediate halt to ongoing operations. The residents raised concerns over environmental and safety risks affecting their community.
The villagers argued that ONGC activities could pollute drinking water in the area. They also warned that nearby Lanka villages might face flooding due to improper management of the site.
Police responded swiftly to the demonstration, deploying a significant force at the ONGC premises to maintain order. CI P. Gannavaram Bhimaraju held discussions with the protesters, assuring them that he would contact higher authorities to address their concerns.
After receiving this assurance, the villagers agreed to disperse peacefully. Authorities are now reviewing the situation to ensure environmental safety and prevent potential hazards to the surrounding communities.
