The Visakhapatnam Railway Station witnessed heavy congestion on Saturday as a large number of tourists traveled to Araku Valley. The platform assigned to the Araku-bound train remained packed with passengers, leading to inconvenience and discomfort.
Holiday Rush Triggers Heavy Crowd
The rush increased due to consecutive holidays, which encouraged many families and tourists to plan trips to the scenic hill station. As a result, passengers reached the station early in large numbers. Soon, the platform became overcrowded, making movement difficult.
Train Delay Adds to Passenger Trouble
The situation worsened when the Araku-bound train, scheduled to arrive at 6:45 am, got delayed by more than an hour. Thousands of passengers waited on the platform during this period. Due to the delay, many expressed frustration and concern over the lack of space and facilities.
Moreover, elderly passengers, women, and children faced additional difficulties amid the crowd. Some travelers complained about insufficient seating arrangements and poor crowd management during peak hours.
Railway Officials Monitor Situation
Railway officials monitored the situation and made regular announcements to keep passengers informed. However, the unexpected surge in travelers made crowd control challenging. Officials said they are reviewing the situation to improve arrangements during holiday seasons.
Araku Remains a Popular Tourist Destination
Araku Valley continues to attract tourists, especially during weekends and long holidays. With increasing footfall, passengers urged railway authorities to deploy more staff and provide better crowd management in the future.
Railway authorities assured that they would consider additional measures to ensure passenger safety and smoother travel during peak periods.
