Former TTD Chairman YV Subba Reddy has made a significant statement on the Tirumala laddu controversy, acknowledging that adulteration may have taken place during the preparation process. However, he firmly denied allegations that animal fat was used in the sacred prasadam, calling such claims misleading and politically motivated.
His remarks come amid intense political debate and public concern over the quality and sanctity of the Tirumala laddu.
Adulteration Possible, But No Animal Fat: Subba Reddy
Speaking on the issue, Subba Reddy said that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) had only pointed to possible adulteration. According to him, the SIT report did not mention the use of animal fat at any stage. Therefore, linking animal fat to laddu preparation is incorrect, he asserted.
At the same time, he made it clear that if adulteration indeed occurred, those responsible must face strict action without exception.
Clarifies Ghee Supply History
Subba Reddy also addressed claims surrounding the ghee used in laddu preparation. He stated that the same ghee supplier operated even during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure. Because of this, he questioned why the issue has now turned into a political flashpoint.
He argued that selective targeting raises doubts about the intent behind the allegations rather than genuine concern for temple traditions.
Allegations of Political Targeting
Taking a strong political stand, Subba Reddy accused rivals of attempting to implicate YSR Congress Party leaders through the controversy. He alleged that authorities constituted committees with a pre-decided agenda to malign the previous TTD administration.
According to him, the issue should focus solely on facts and accountability, not political gain.
Calls for Action Based on Facts
While defending his stand, Subba Reddy reiterated that action must be taken if adulteration is proven. He stressed that protecting the sanctity of Tirumala laddu remains paramount and urged officials to act based on verified findings rather than assumptions.
As the investigation continues, his comments have added a new dimension to the debate, intensifying political reactions while keeping public attention firmly on the SIT’s conclusions.
