Actress Zarina Wahab, who appears in Prabhas’ upcoming film The Raja Saab, has spoken emotionally about her son Sooraj Pancholi’s long legal battle. She said he suffered mental anguish for ten years for a mistake he did not commit.
Directed by Maruthi, The Raja Saab is set to release soon. Fans are eagerly waiting for the film.
Clean Chit After Ten Years
In a recent interview, Zarina Wahab said the case began in 2013. After nearly a decade, the court gave Sooraj Pancholi a clean chit. The verdict stated that he had no role in Jiah Khan’s suicide.
Zarina said the prolonged case deeply affected her son’s career. It also took a heavy toll on his mental health. “My son carried that burden for ten long years,” she said.
Nature of Sooraj and Jiah’s Relationship
According to Zarina Wahab, Sooraj and Jiah were friends for only four months. Their contact began when Sooraj messaged Jiah while he was in Dubai. She said they were not in a serious relationship.
Jiah ended her life a few months later. Zarina stressed that the two had already stopped communicating before the incident.
Warnings and Missed Opportunities
Zarina revealed that when Salman Khan planned to launch Sooraj, she warned her son to be cautious. She said she had concerns about Jiah’s emotional state. She also claimed she informed Salman Khan about it.
She added that Sooraj and Jiah stopped speaking nearly a month before the incident. Around the same time, Jiah lost an opportunity in a Telugu film after failing a screen test. Rakul Preet Singh later got the role.
Allegations Around the Suicide Note
Zarina Wahab said Jiah tried to contact Sooraj later. However, he did not respond as he was busy with film training. She also claimed that Jiah’s mother admitted in court that she wrote the suicide note herself.
“Ten Years Lost Forever”
Concluding emotionally, Zarina Wahab said the case took away ten crucial years of her son’s life. She said the experience left lasting scars on him and their family.
