Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday reiterated that Amaravati will emerge as one of India’s finest cities, despite challenges. Speaking at the inauguration of the Amaravathi–Aavakaya Festival 2026 in Vijayawada, he said determined leadership and public support would drive the capital’s growth.
Festival Inaugurated at Punnami Ghat
At Punnami Ghat on the banks of the Krishna River, the Chief Minister formally inaugurated the three-day festival. Along with the celebrations, he also launched newly installed houseboats to strengthen tourism. As a result, Vijayawada gained a new attraction for visitors and locals alike.
The festival brings together Telugu cinema, culture, literature, arts, and traditional flavors. Through this platform, the government aims to showcase Telugu heritage on a global stage.
Clear Vision for Amaravati’s Growth
While addressing the gathering, Chandrababu Naidu described Amaravati as the “capital of the gods.” According to him, the city will advance with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara Swamy. Moreover, he stressed that no force could halt Amaravati’s development.
To support sustainable growth, he promised to make Vijayawada the cleanest city and Amaravati the greenest city in the country. Additionally, he noted that spending time along the Krishna River offers peace and mental relaxation.
Cultural Revival After Five Years
Referring to the recent past, the Chief Minister criticised the absence of festivals over the last five years. Consequently, he said, public joy and celebration had faded. However, after his government took charge, major events such as Vijaya Utsav and Dussehra returned to Vijayawada on a world-class scale.
Earlier, Dussehra symbolised cities like Mysore and Kolkata. Today, however, Vijayawada has earned its own distinct identity. In fact, he said the word “Aavakaya” alone brings Andhra Pradesh to mind across the world.

Tribute to Telugu Cinema and Krishna District
Highlighting cultural achievements, Chandrababu Naidu traced the journey of Telugu cinema from Bhakta Prahlada to Baahubali. In this context, he praised legendary actors NTR, ANR, and Shobhan Babu for setting high standards. At present, leaders like Pawan Kalyan and Balakrishna continue to elevate the industry.
Beyond cinema, he applauded the people of Krishna district for their strength in business and wealth creation. Therefore, he said the district remains a backbone of the state’s economic growth.
Future Plans: AI Hub and Green Hydrogen Valley
Looking ahead, the Chief Minister announced that Visakhapatnam will soon develop into an AI hub. At the same time, the government plans to establish a Green Hydrogen Valley. Through this initiative, advanced technologies, including domestic gas solutions, will reach households.
Addressing employment concerns, he assured that AI would not reduce jobs. Instead, he explained, technology and tourism will together create new opportunities.
Call to Carry Festivals Forward
In conclusion, Chandrababu Naidu urged the people of Vijayawada to take ownership of cultural festivals. According to him, public participation ensures long-term success and pride.
Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh, Vijayawada MP Keshineni Shivnath (Chinni), and other dignitaries attended the event.
