Anantapur District Collector O Anand has directed officials to expedite infrastructure works under the AMRUT scheme across urban local bodies and municipalities in the district.

During a review meeting held at the Anantapur Collectorate on Friday, the Collector assessed progress on water supply and housing projects with officials from Public Health, APTIDCO, and municipal bodies. He announced that the completion of ₹15.35-crore Anantapur Water Supply Improvement Scheme under AMRUT 1.0. Anand then ordered a 30-day trial run, followed by a quality inspection and formal handover. The scheme is expected to be inaugurated in early November.

The ₹10.98-crore Guntakal Water Supply Scheme is 98% complete. The trial run is scheduled by the end of October. For Tadipatri, officials were instructed to inspect field works within a week and begin construction on the filtration plant. They should also explore integration with the Rural Water Supply scheme.

9,744 TIDCO houses completed

The Collector emphasised the need to accelerate sewage and septage management projects in Anantapur and Guntakal. Under APTIDCO, 12,096 houses have been grounded and 9,744 completed. Officials must ensure amenities are in place. They should prepare a six-month action plan for handover and relocation of beneficiaries, including security and transport arrangements.

The Collector also directed municipalities to launch awareness campaigns for the ‘Super GST – Super Savings’ initiative.

Anantapur Municipal Commissioner Balaswami, Deputy Commissioner Pavani, Public Health Executive Engineer Adinarayana, ULB SE Rajasekhar, EE Shakir, and other municipal officials and contractors were present at the meeting.
