The Meteorological Department has issued a major warning to Andhra Pradesh. A severe low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal is expected to intensify into a cyclone within the next 12 hours. Officials have said it could become a severe cyclone by October 3. Widespread rainfall is expected across the State over the next three days.
Seven districts in the northern coastal region, including NTR, Visakhapatnam, Anakapalli, Kakinada, and Konaseema, have been placed under an orange alert. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in East and West Godavari, Yanam, Srikakulam, Eluru, Krishna, Guntur, Bapatla, Alluri Sitarama Raju, and Parvathipuram Manyam districts.
The Meteorological Department has urged residents to remain cautious. Fishermen have been strongly advised not to venture into the sea for the next four days due to heavy rains. In addition, all ports in the state have been issued danger warnings.
Authorities have also cautioned that ongoing Navaratri celebrations could be affected. They urge devotees to avoid large gatherings to prevent accidents. Heavy rains and potential flooding may disrupt rail and road transport across the State. Residents are advised to postpone non-essential travel. Finally, officials stressed that all government warnings should be strictly followed during this period.
