The impact of Cyclone Ditva has intensified rainfall across several parts of Sri Potti Sriramulu Nellore and Tirupati districts. Since Wednesday night, Nellore city and surrounding rural areas have been experiencing continuous, uninterrupted rain. As a result, several low-lying colonies in the city have been flooded, with water entering homes in areas such as Perareddypalli and BC Colony.
Rising water levels in local streams, canals, and tanks have led to overflow situations. Floodwaters from swollen tanks have reached the national highway at multiple points, forcing vehicles to move slowly and cautiously. In Saithapuram mandal, the Pinneeru stream has been flowing over the causeway, cutting off transport between Saithapuram and Podalakuru since Wednesday night.
Situation in Tirupati District
Tirupati district has also been witnessing relentless rainfall since Wednesday night. Rainfall levels have risen sharply, with Balayapalli recording 10.8 cm and Dakkili registering 11.2 cm. The Neredu stream in Balayapalli has overflowed, halting movement between two nearby villages. At Nidigallu, floodwaters have submerged the Chapta bridge, forcing authorities to divert traffic from Venkatagiri through Utallapalli.
In Balayapalli mandal, the Kaivalya river causeway has also been submerged, cutting off road access to several villages between Nindali and Venkatreddypalli. Schools and other educational institutions across 14 mandals in the Gudur division have been declared closed as a precaution. Meanwhile, the Swarnamukhi river in Tirupati district is flowing in full spate, with water discharge reaching nearly 20,000 cusecs.

Cyclone Ditva’s Continued Impact
Several constituencies continue to face heavy rain under the influence of Cyclone Ditva. Balayapalli in the Venkatagiri constituency and Thottambedu in the Srikalahasti constituency have reported persistent showers. In the Gudur constituency, regions including Chittamur, Kota, Vakadu, Chillakur, and Gudur mandals are receiving steady rainfall.
Road infrastructure across parts of Tirupati district has suffered damage due to the relentless downpour. In the Gudur constituency, residents in Daivaladibba were moved to safer locations after floodwaters entered residential areas.
