Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm Diwali wishes to the nation, celebrating the spirit of light and positivity. In a post on X, PM Modi wrote, “Greetings on the occasion of Diwali. May this festival of lights illuminate our lives with harmony, happiness and prosperity. May the spirit of positivity prevail all around us.”

Emphasising the importance of supporting local craftsmanship, PM Modi encouraged citizens to choose Indian-made products during the festive season. “Let’s mark this festive season by celebrating the hard work, creativity and innovation of 140 crore Indians. Let’s buy Indian products and say—Garv Se Kaho Yeh Swadeshi Hai! Do also share what you bought on social media. This way, you will inspire others to also do the same,” he added.
President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President CP Radhakrishnan on Monday extended greetings to citizens on the occasion of Diwali, urging people to celebrate the festival safely, responsibly, and with compassion towards the underprivileged.
Ayodhya Deepotsav creates new Guinness record
Meanwhile, Ayodhya made global headlines by entering the Guinness World Records during its Deepotsav celebrations. The city illuminated the banks of the Saryu River with an astonishing 2,617,215 oil lamps, setting a new world record for the largest display of lit diyas. The event also featured the largest-ever Saryu aarti, with 2,128 devotees participating in the ritual on October 17.
Organised by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department in collaboration with the Ayodhya District Administration, the spectacle drew over 30,000 volunteers from universities, colleges, and various departments. The diyas were meticulously arranged in symmetrical patterns to facilitate accurate counting and verification by Guinness World Records officials.
Ayodhya’s Deepotsav not only showcased the grandeur of Indian tradition but also highlighted the collective spirit and devotion of its people.
