Fans usually visit stadiums to cheer their favourite players. However, in this SA20 clash, one lucky fan walked away with a fortune. The rare moment occurred when the spectator grabbed a powerful six with one hand, displaying incredible reflexes.
The incident has now gone viral on social media and is being called one of the most expensive catches in cricket history.
Record-Breaking Match in SA20
The match itself was historic. Batting first, Durban Super Giants posted a massive 232/5, the highest team total in SA20 history.
Devon Conway scored 64, while Kane Williamson added 40 at the top. Aiden Markram and Evan Jones provided the finishing touch.
Chasing a target of 233, MI Cape Town put up a strong fight. Ryan Rickelton smashed a brilliant 113-run century, but his efforts fell short. MI Cape Town lost the match by 15 runs. Together, both teams scored 449 runs, making it one of the most entertaining matches of the season.

The lucky moment came in the 13th over of MI Cape Town’s innings. Rickelton launched a huge six into the crowd. A young fan caught the ball cleanly with one hand.
Under the SA20 Clean Catch Initiative, spectators who take a clean one-handed catch receive a cash reward. As per the scheme, the fan won 2 million South African rands, which is approximately ₹1.08 crore.
The crowd erupted in cheers as the fan realised his life-changing moment.
