Actor Shivaji has alleged that a section of the film industry is targeting him deliberately. He claimed that some people distorted his recent comments to create controversy and damage his image.
The controversy began after Shivaji made remarks about heroines’ attire at the Dandora movie event. The comments triggered criticism on social media. Following this, the Women’s Commission took suo motu cognisance and issued notices to him. Shivaji appeared before the commission and cooperated with the inquiry.
After the hearing, Shivaji spoke to the media and clarified his stand. He said certain individuals in the industry already hold personal grudges against him. According to him, they twisted his words and spread misleading narratives. He also alleged that some people discussed the issue through Zoom meetings to amplify criticism against him.
Shivaji admitted that he used two inappropriate words during the event. He said he spoke those words in anger and apologised immediately. He stressed that he never intended to insult women or hurt their dignity.
The actor explained that he spoke as a father with the intention of educating children. He denied having any malicious intent behind his remarks. Shivaji said he respects the Women’s Commission and attended the hearing with full responsibility, as it is a government body.
He requested the commission to consider his explanation and close the matter. Meanwhile, the issue continues to spark debate online. While some users support Shivaji’s clarification, others demand strict action.
The Women’s Commission is expected to review the case and announce its decision in the coming days.
