The Sri Krishnadevaraya Mahotsavams began on a grand note in Srikakulam village of Avanigadda constituency, Krishna district. The two-day celebrations attracted large numbers of devotees, history lovers, and residents. Organisers arranged cultural programs and special events to mark the occasion.
Avanigadda MLA Mandali Prasad said that the history of the Telugu people began in Srikakulam. He noted that Sri Krishnadevaraya visited Srikakulam on February 11, 1518. Since 2007, people have continued the tradition of celebrating this historic visit every year.
The MLA added that the very name of Sri Krishnadevaraya inspires pride among Telugu people. Many consider him one of the greatest rulers in Telugu history. He strengthened the Telugu language, culture, and administration during his reign.
Organisers said they conduct these Sri Krishnadevaraya Mahotsavams to remember his contribution to the Telugu community. They believe such events help younger generations understand their heritage.
Local leaders, scholars, and cultural artists participated in the celebrations. The event created a festive atmosphere in the region. Residents expressed happiness over the grand arrangements and active participation.
The celebrations will continue for another day with traditional performances and tribute programs honouring the legendary emperor.
