A moment of distraction nearly resulted in a major loss for a woman in Hyderabad, after she accidentally left behind a bag containing 10 tolas of gold jewellery on an RTC bus. Thanks to the alert response of the Nacharam police and the honesty of the bus conductor, the valuables were safely recovered and returned.
Phone Call Leads to Costly Oversight
The incident occurred under the Nacharam Police Station limits on Tuesday evening. V. Sridevi, a resident of Vanasthalipuram, boarded an RTC bus heading towards Charlapalli from Tarnaka bus stop around 7 pm. She was carrying a bag containing gold ornaments weighing about 10 tolas.
When the bus reached Nacharam, Sridevi received a phone call. While talking on the phone, she hurriedly got down from the bus. In the process, she unknowingly left her bag on the seat.
Panic Turns to Relief
A short while later, Sridevi realised she had forgotten the bag and panicked. She immediately approached the Nacharam Police Station and lodged a complaint. Taking the matter seriously, the police responded without delay.
The officers quickly traced the concerned RTC bus and informed the driver and conductor. Acting promptly, the conductor checked the seat where the woman had been sitting and found the bag safely placed there.
Honest Conductor Wins Praise
In the presence of Nacharam CI Dhanunjayya, the conductor handed over the bag to the police, who then returned it to the rightful owner. Upon checking, Sridevi confirmed that all her gold ornaments were intact.
Relieved after recovering her valuables, she expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Nacharam police and the RTC staff. The incident highlighted how alert policing and personal integrity can prevent significant losses, even in moments of everyday negligence.
