Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu held an emergency meeting after the adulterated milk incident in Rajahmundry caused deaths and widespread illness. He spoke with the District Collector, SP, and other officials. CM Chandrababu asked for full details about those who fell ill and the victims who died.
CM Orders Immediate Medical Action
The Chief Minister directed officials to rush to Rajahmundry to ensure victims receive proper treatment. He instructed authorities to perform post-mortems and blood tests. If reports confirm that adulterated milk caused illnesses, they must take strict action against the responsible parties.
Officials confirmed they collected samples from 75 people so far. Hospitals are currently treating all affected individuals. Police arrested the milk seller and are questioning him. Authorities noted that the most affected are children and elderly residents.
Extent of the Outbreak
The adulterated milk incident created panic across Rajahmundry. Four people died in Choudeshwari Nagar and Venkateswara Nagar colonies. Another 13 suffered severe symptoms, including vomiting, diarrhoea, and stomach pain. Residents fell ill nearly simultaneously, alarming the local population.
Police are actively investigating the incident. Preliminary findings indicate that all affected individuals bought milk from the same vendor. Authorities suspect widespread adulteration. Post-mortem reports will reveal the exact cause of death.
Surveys and Precautionary Measures
Officials launched preventive measures immediately. Thirteen teams conducted door-to-door surveys in affected colonies. The Municipal Commissioner instructed health officials, doctors, ASHA workers, and other personnel to carry out the surveys efficiently.
Authorities also reported that nearby vendors distribute milk to 106 houses, showing the potential scale of the problem. Meanwhile, the regional coordinator, Nana Ji, will provide live updates from Rajahmundry about the investigation and medical efforts.
Ensuring Accountability
CM Chandrababu emphasised that authorities must act swiftly. They need to ensure victims receive care and hold those responsible accountable. The state government aims to prevent such incidents from happening in the future.
