The Andhra Pradesh government has taken major steps to address issues related to the 2018 Group-1 recruitment. It transferred 25 RDOs, 5 DSPs, 22 MPDOs, 8 Excise Assistant Superintendents, and 5 CTOs. Officials in key roles, including DPOs and Municipal Commissioners, were abruptly moved overnight. Many of them were attached to the General Administration Department (GAD) or department heads without new postings.
The High Court had ordered the government to place all officers from the 2018 Group-1 batch in priority postings. Last week, the court noted that officials had not yet been assigned to these positions. It instructed the Chief Secretary to appear before the bench and explain the delay.
Following the court’s directions, the government relieved all officers from their current posts and assigned them to designated priority positions. Officials said this move will improve administrative efficiency and ensure that the 2018 Group-1 officers can start their duties immediately.
The High Court emphasised that recruitment rules and timely appointments must be strictly followed. This intervention aims to resolve delays and strengthen transparency in government departments.
With the new transfers, the government hopes to prevent administrative bottlenecks and allow officers to perform their duties effectively in their assigned roles.
