A major fire accident was reported nearly 10 hours ago in Pragathi Nagar under Bachupally limits after a gas cylinder exploded inside a furniture shop. The explosion triggered a massive blaze that spread to adjacent stores in the same row, causing heavy property damage and panic in the locality. Fire officials later brought the situation under control after hours of operation.
The incident took place in a commercial stretch where several furniture shops had been operating side by side. According to preliminary findings, the cylinder blast occurred inside one shop and quickly ignited wooden furniture and other flammable materials. As a result, flames rapidly spread to nearby establishments.
Thick black smoke engulfed the area, and locals rushed out of their homes and shops in fear. Eyewitnesses said the fire intensified within minutes, leaving shop owners helpless as the blaze consumed goods worth lakhs of rupees.
Fire department teams reached the spot with multiple fire engines and began containment measures immediately. They worked continuously to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further. Police personnel also managed traffic and cleared the area to assist emergency crews.
Fortunately, no casualties were reported in the incident. However, several shops suffered extensive damage. Officials have launched an inquiry to confirm the exact cause of the explosion and assess the total loss.
