Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu hailed the Centre’s Super GST (GST 2.0) reforms as a transformative move for economic progress, emphasising its potential to bring significant advantages to the people of Andhra Pradesh.

Speaking in the Assembly on Monday, Naidu unveiled plans for a comprehensive awareness campaign across the State to educate citizens about the revamped tax system. He estimated that the new regime could result in savings of nearly `8,000 crore for residents.

Drawing a comparison between the next-gen GST reforms and TDP-led NDA government’s Super Six guarantees, Naidu highlighted its role in boosting affordability and overall prosperity. “A dedicated ministerial panel has been established to ensure that every citizen benefits from GST 2.0,” he informed the House.

The Chief Minister stressed that the reforms are designed to uplift the poor and middle-income groups, and by 2047, in conjunction with the Super Six and P4 programmes, they will play a pivotal role in achieving long-term development objectives.

Naidu pointed out that almost all essential commodities—around 99%—are now exempt from tax, offering relief to small enterprises and MSMEs. He also noted that the reforms support the Swadeshi and Make in India movements by simplifying business processes and enhancing the global competitiveness of Indian products.

“Every purchase of a Made in India item contributes directly to the nation’s growth,” he remarked. The awareness drive, scheduled from Dasara to Diwali, will include over 65,000 events and outreach efforts across all 26 districts.

These activities will be coordinated through village and ward secretariats, 10,000 Rythu Seva Kendras, and schools and colleges, where essay contests will be organised. District headquarters will host special events involving elected officials, government personnel, and students.

The campaign will leverage various media platforms—print, electronic, and digital—alongside hoardings, interviews, selfie contests, and creative expressions like sand art. Seminars on GST 2.0 will be held, and retail outlets will showcase reduced prices to demonstrate consumer savings.

The tax cuts will cover a wide range of essentials, including household items, medicines, educational materials, stationery, textiles, sports gear, products for women and children, transportation, and hospitality services. Agricultural machinery is also expected to become more affordable.

Naidu concluded by stating that these reforms lay the foundation for wealth generation and sustainable development, guiding Andhra Pradesh toward the vision of ‘Swarna Andhra’ and securing benefits for future generations.

Prior to this announcement, a ministerial sub-committee presented a detailed action plan to the Chief Minister, outlining strategies for a door-to-door outreach programme.
