The beloved 80s Stars Reunion, an annual tradition among South Indian film industry legends, made a poignant comeback in Chennai on October 4, after a three-year hiatus. This year’s gathering was not about glamour—it was about friendship, solidarity, and shared memories.

The actors postponed the 80s Stars Reunion, originally scheduled for 2024, due to flooding in Chennai. This prompted a shift in tone for 2025. Rajkumar Sethupathy and Sripriya hosted the reunion at their home instead of a lavish hotel venue, upon the request of the superstars. This reflected the heartfelt simplicity that defines the bond among these cinematic icons.

Curated with care by cinema’s leading ladies

The evening was thoughtfully organised by Lissy Lakshmi, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Khushbu Sundar, and Suhasini Maniratnam. They ensured the gathering honoured the spirit of togetherness rather than spectacle. Their decision to keep the event intimate resonated deeply with attendees. Many of whom travelled from Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and even the Hindi film industry.

A night of reflection and enduring bonds

A total of 31 actors reunited, sharing stories, laughter, and reflections on their cinematic journeys. Among the attendees were legendary stars like Chiranjeevi, Venkatesh, Jackie Shroff, Sarathkumar, Rajkumar Sethupathy, and Sripriya. The gathering also welcomed beloved actresses such as Nadhiya, Radha, Suhasini, Ramya Krishnan, Jayasudha, Sumalatha, Khushbu, Poornima Bhagyaraj, Lissy, Shobana, Menaka, Revathy, Saritha, Meena, Latha, Swapna, and Jeyashree.

Stars like Rahman, Bhagyaraj, Naresh, Suresh, Prabhu, Jeyaram, and Banu Chandhar also joined the 80s Stars Reunion. Aswathi Jeyaram was there, adding to the rich tapestry of talent and nostalgia.

At the 80s Stars Reunion, the actors shared memories, ideas, and reflections on cinema and life. They celebrated the diversity that unites them beyond borders and languages. As dawn approached, each one departed for their respective homes and workplaces. They carried with them the comfort of togetherness and the renewed strength of enduring friendship. “It wasn’t a night of celebration this time,” said Suhasini Maniratnam.
“It was a quiet gathering of friends who have known each other for decades — to express unity, empathy, and gratitude for the bonds that have outlasted fame and time,” added Lissy Lakshmi.
