On the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty, Andhra Pradesh renewed its resolve to eliminate poverty through empowerment, dignity, and equal opportunity. Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu emphasised that eradicating poverty is not just about financial assistance. “It’s about restoring self-respect, creating opportunities, and ensuring that every citizen moves forward equally,” he added.
Swarna Andhra Vision 2047: A mission to uplift every citizen
The Swarna Andhra Vision 2047 places poverty eradication at its core. In just 16 months, the coalition government has implemented welfare and development programs worth over ₹1 lakh crore. This marks one of the most comprehensive anti-poverty drives in the country. Under the NTR Bharosa Pensions scheme, ₹2,758 crore is disbursed every month. This ensures social security for lakhs of beneficiaries. The government has also reopened 207 Anna Canteens across the state. They offer nutritious meals for just ₹5 to those in need.

Empowering women and families
Through the Deepam 2.0 initiative, poor women receive three free LPG cylinders per year. This eases household burdens and promotes cleaner energy. Under Talli Ki Vandanam, every student from an underprivileged family studying at home receives ₹15,000 annually to support education. In addition, the Stree Shakti scheme has made free RTC bus travel for women a reality. This gives them greater mobility and independence.
The Annadata Sukhibhava program released its first ₹7,000 instalment to farmers. This reinforces the government’s commitment to agricultural welfare. Fishermen have received ₹246 crore under the Service of Fishermen scheme. Meanwhile, auto drivers benefited from ₹435 crore in direct support.
The P-4 Zero Poverty Programme
To ensure lasting change, the government introduced the P-4 Zero Poverty program. It’s a people-centric initiative aimed at transforming every household through welfare, livelihood, education, and empowerment. On this global observance, Chief Minister Naidu urged citizens to reaffirm their commitment:
“Let us all become partners in the P-4 movement and work together to eradicate poverty from our society.”
