Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu held a high-level review on AP districts reorganisation and made it clear that the restructuring should be based on administrative convenience and the aspirations of the people. He directed ministers and senior officials to ensure that the AP districts reorganisation process does not create fresh disputes while correcting earlier mistakes committed by the previous YSRCP government.

Cabinet panel presents preliminary report on AP districts reorganisation

The Chief Minister conducted the review meeting with the Cabinet Sub-Committee formed for the AP districts reorganisation. Deputy Chief Minister Konidala Pawan Kalyan and ministers Anagani Satya Prasad, Dr Ponguru Narayana, Nadendla Manohar, Y Satya Kumar Yadav, Vangalapudi Anitha, Nimmala Ramanaidu and BC Janardhan Reddy participated in the review meeting.

The ministers informed the Chief Minister that they had prepared a preliminary report after collecting feedback from district Collectors, local public representatives, civil society groups, and revenue and administrative officials.

Previous district reorganisation was unscientific: CM Naidu

Chandrababu asserted that the unscientific reorganisation of districts by the previous YSRCP government led to regional disputes and public inconvenience. He reaffirmed the need to carry out the reorganisation of Andhra Pradesh districts in a transparent and scientific manner to guarantee long-term administrative stability.

Naidu also directed them to take the future delimitation of Assembly constituencies into account. “New revenue divisions should be formed wherever necessary, Public sentiment must guide administrative changes,” the Chief Minister added.

Special study on Polavaram submergence & Markapur district demand

Naidu instructed revenue officials to study the impact of the Polavaram submergence areas and define district boundaries. He also acknowledged the long-standing demand for the Markapur district and assured that officials will examine it as part of the ongoing restructuring process. They plan to hold further discussions next week, considering additional suggestions and proposals. The Chief Minister directed the Cabinet Sub-Committee to speed up consultations with stakeholders.
