Team India and South Africa are currently playing a three-match ODI series. The first two matches in Ranchi and Raipur have already finished. The third ODI is scheduled for Saturday in Visakhapatnam.
According to Andhra Cricket Association officials, ticket sales for the Vizag match were slow in the beginning. Fans showed little interest even after the tickets went live online on November 28. Offline counters were also opened later, yet the response did not improve much.
Everything changed when Virat Kohli smashed back-to-back centuries in Ranchi and Raipur. His super century of 135 in the first ODI created a sudden buzz. Fans rushed to book seats, and the demand shot up within minutes. “Ticket sales started on November 28. Initially, we did not receive the expected crowd response. But after Kohli’s century in Ranchi, the remaining tickets sold out within minutes,” the ACA Media and Operations team said.
Kohli’s Form Raises Expectations
Virat Kohli has already retired from T20Is and Test cricket. He now focuses only on ODIs and aims to feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup. Vizag has been a lucky venue for him. Across seven matches here, he scored 587 runs at an impressive average of 97.83, including three centuries and two half-centuries.
Fans Hope for Another Century in Vizag
After scoring two consecutive centuries in this series, fans expect Kohli to continue his form in Visakhapatnam as well. He has already achieved the rare feat of hitting three consecutive ODI centuries back in 2018 against the West Indies. That performance made him the 12th batter to record three or more centuries in successive ODIs.
