Incident During Birthday Celebrations
A shocking incident came to light in Mutyalavandlapalli village of Sri Sathya Sai district. A YSRCP activist allegedly assaulted a pregnant woman during birthday celebrations of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The incident occurred on the night of December 21.
What Exactly Happened
According to police, YSRCP workers gathered near the house of a pregnant woman, Sandhya Rani, and burst firecrackers while shouting slogans. Unable to bear the loud noise, she came outside and requested them to burst crackers at a distance. However, the request angered activist Ajay Dev.
Ignoring the fact that she was pregnant, Ajay Dev allegedly kicked her in the stomach. Family members rushed the woman to a hospital as she writhed in pain.
Police Action and Arrest
Following a complaint from the victim’s family, police registered a case and launched a search. On Tuesday, officers arrested Ajay Dev at BT Cross on the Kadiri–Madanapalle main road. They brought him to Kadiri town and made him walk barefoot from the RTC bus stand to the police station via the national highway.
DSP Issues Strong Warning
Kadiri DSP Siva Narayanaswamy briefed the media on the case. He said the public march aimed to send a strong message against attacks on women and actions that disturb village peace. He also warned that police would take strict action against anyone who threatens law and order.
More Arrests Likely
The DSP added that police will also arrest Anjanappa, who allegedly instigated the attack. Authorities assured that they will deal firmly with such acts to ensure women’s safety and public peace.
The incident has sparked outrage locally and renewed calls for strict action against violence targeting women.
