SIT Tightens Noose in Spurious Liquor Case
The investigation into former minister and YSRCP leader Jogi Ramesh has intensified. The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has taken Jogi Ramesh and his brother Ramulu into custody once again in connection with the spurious liquor manufacturing case.
SIT officials took both accused into custody on Friday morning. They will question them for three days. Investigators believe that several crucial details need further clarification.
Second Custody to Probe Financial Links
Earlier, the SIT questioned the Jogi brothers regarding the manufacture and supply of fake liquor in the Ibrahimpatnam area. However, officials felt the first round of questioning was insufficient.
Therefore, the SIT decided on a second custody. This phase focuses on uncovering financial transactions, links with other accused, and the larger network involved in the scam. Currently, both Jogi Ramesh and Ramulu remain in judicial remand at the Vijayawada district jail.
Notices Issued to Family Members
Meanwhile, the police issued CrPC 41A notices to Jogi Ramesh’s wife and son. These notices relate to a separate case registered during Jogi’s arrest.
According to police, incidents occurred when Jogi Ramesh was taken to Vijayawada Government Hospital. Officials booked a case alleging damage to hospital property and obstruction of police duties. As part of this probe, notices were served to his family members.
Court Extends Remand Period
In another development, the court extended the remand of the accused in the fake liquor case. Since the remand period expired on Friday, police produced the accused before the court.
After hearing arguments, the court extended the remand till the 16th of this month. Subsequently, authorities shifted the accused back to the Vijayawada district jail.
With repeated custodial interrogations and expanding investigations, the case against Jogi Ramesh appears to be entering a decisive phase.
